Hello to The Connectory Exchange (TCE) Community Coordination group,

MAY METRICS Things to note (see attachment):

  • Programs and active opportunities continue to increase, albeit at a much slower rate than past months due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and a server issues we suffered due to increased bounce rates. This issue has been addressed and solutions implemented. States with highest increases in opportunities:
    *  TX (10) - all other states either no increases or none more than 1-5.
    *  North Carolina saw a negative shift (-13) in opportunities on The Connectory.

    • April 2020 had 2161 total active
    • May 2020 had 2148 total active
    • We assume this is due to opportunities being cancelled/postponed on NCSTEM site due to COVID-19.
  • Pageviews up +3.7%. Users are up +4.7%. Time on Site down by -18%.

NEXT MEETING: Please take a moment to fill out the Doodle poll for our next meeting slated for September 2020: https://doodle.com/poll/34tnsy2af228w7v7

WEBSITE FEATURE WISH LIST: Below is a list of items discussed at the May 28th meeting. If you have strong feeling about how to prioritize these items, would like to add additional items for consideration, or would like to set up an additional meeting to discuss other features, let us know by emailing Kathy at kthomas@ngcproject.orgmailto:kthomas@ngcproject.org.

  • Change terminology throughout site: Program to Provider. Opportunity to Activity.
  • Change terminology on Find an Opportunity page: Opportunities Near You Now to Featured Opportunities (on TC).
  • Find an Opportunity page - update to automatically load Online Learning and Competition opportunities regardless of zip code location.
  • Adding pop-up box messaging letting families know we've increased the number of online learning and home based opportunities (similar to STARportal).
  • Investigate adding user dashboard that includes simple automated reporting (may require funding).

Additional topics for the TCE Community to contemplate:

  • Outreach: Educate partners/providers about NCSTEM/The Connectory what they can use the portals for. What is the value and how do we demonstrate this?
  • Outreach: Consider efficient process to increase capacity (temporarily) to add prog/opps for STEM Providers and then figure out best way to get Providers to take ownership once created.
  • Consider best way to distinguish virtual/online learning content. Traditionally sites were used for in-person events, find a way to highlight online activities in a clearer way (is it exclusively online content or does it include activities that can be done offline later?) This could mean changing the way the search works to globalize results.
  • Vetting online opportunities/resources. Consider quality indicators to create a rubric. Then highlight those that meet criteria and inform audience why we are elevating these specific opps/resources.

Take care,

Kathy Thomas
