Dear Collaborative Leadership Team members,

Thank you to those of you who were able to join us for the November NGCP Collaborative Leadership Teams Community Meeting. If you were not able to make the call, the recording, PPT deck, and chat are attached as well as saved on the Public SharePoint under: Resources/Collaborative Community Webinarshttp://sharepoint.ngcproject.org/Resources/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2FResources%2FCollaborative%20Community%20Webinars&FolderCTID=0x0120003C2FDA2731C8F04BB39B043C69E171BF&View=%7bAD457C8F-CC44-44E1-9EFD-8A4452A7B248%7d.

For three years, the NGCP has partnered with WGBH Education out of Boston, MA around their exemplary engineering curriculum, Design Squad Global. Design Squad Globalhttps://pbskids.org/designsquad/ (DSG), a PBS KIDS show and website, has created activitieshttps://pbskids.org/designsquad/parentseducators/resources/index.html, videoshttps://pbskids.org/designsquad/video/ and after-school clubshttps://pbskids.org/designsquad/parentseducators/program/global.html that aim to get kids ages 10-13 excited about engineering. DSG has decided to tackle a new content area: engineering and inventing for a sustainable future. DSG wants to get kids thinking about how engineering can help address environmental problems and how to bring a sustainability mindset into the invention process. DSG has launched a new afterschool club curriculum called the Design Squad Global Inventing Green Club Guidehttps://mass.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/dsg18-sci-6week-inventing-green-guide/6-week-dsg-inventing-green-club-guide/ which includes educator leader notes, six new engineering activities, and material handouts for the club. Sign uphttps://mass.pbslearningmedia.org/collection/sign-up/ to run a club or use the activities however they might fit best in your program! The new activities are designing Sneakers using earth-friendly materials, building Wind Power Stations with Gears that harness wind to do useful work, finding a more earth-friendly solution for disposable Tableware, redesigning airplanes in Flight Path, and creating Light Pipes to illuminate rooms without electricity. To accompany the new club guide, DSG has created three new professional developmenthttps://mass.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/dsg18-sci-inventing-green-training/dsg-inventing-green-club-leader-training/ videos for educators. Learn about invention education, how to create an environment for inventing and what environmental sustainability means in the context of invention. All materials are free and accessible to all educators! We encourage you to check out the new collection of resources, follow @DesignSquadGlobal on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and share information about our upcoming webinar, "Design Squad Global Inventing Green: Engage Kids in Hands-on Engineering around Sustainabilityhttp://ngcproject.org/design-squad-global-inventing-green-engage-kids-in-hands-on-engineering-around-sustainability" on Thursday, January 10, 2019, 11:00am Pacific/2:00PM Eastern.

As a reminder, we will not be having a December meeting. Our 2019 Community Meeting Schedule is attached. Please note that the meeting time has changed. We look forward to seeing you at our next Community Meeting, Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 11:00AM Pacific/1:00PM Eastern.

We wish you a safe and joyous holiday season,
