This is an invitation to imagine and manifest every daughter feeling Born Worthy.
Nell Merlino, the creator of Take Our Daughters to Work Day, is working on the sequel to the historic event that mobilized over 25 million people to make girls more visible, valued and heard. Her new initiative called Born Worth prepares our digital daughters, their parents and community for full and total equality with a 21st Century Girl's Rite of Passage to Womanhood.
The National Girls Collaborative Project has been working with Nell to develop Born Worthy. Together we must prepare girls to be empowered women. Born Worthy is a 501c3 focused on preparing girls to successfully navigate the world as they transition from girlhood to womanhood. We intend to counteract the conscious and unconscious forces that threaten our daughter's sense of self-worth, safety, and value.
We are ready to pilot the first Born Worthy Weekend and are looking for an organization to bring together 12 to 14 girls between the ages of 11-14 and their mother or father or an ally like a grandmother, auntie or teacher for a total of 25 - 30 participants in August or September.
This pioneering group of 25-30 people will participate in a weekend long adventure with storytelling, self-exploration, dance and discovery to experience their own innate power. A room or area large enough for 25-30 people to move around and a few rooms for smaller groups to work would be an ideal setting for the pilot. At times everyone will be together in some of the sessions. Girls and adults will also work separately during the weekend. Sessions run from 10AM - 5PM both days and the weekend can be Friday and Saturday, Saturday and Sunday or Sunday and Monday.
We have minimal funding for programs participating in this project. Our expectation is the pilot site will contribute the space in exchange for becoming a key partner in this project. All content will be provided - your input and feedback is critical to the future implementation. Personnel from Born Worthy and NGCP will manage all logistics according to the pilot site requirements.
We would like to identify the pilot site by mid-July. Please contact me if you have questions and/or are interested.
