Dear Brite Educators,
We are excited for the first week of Brite to launch on Monday! Below please find some technical tips to make sure Brite runs as smoothly as possible.
World Science U (WSU) Platform Account
By now, Brite Educators should have received an email from WSU with the subject line "[World Science U] Login Information" confirming their platform account creation. Please follow this email to reset your password. Should you have trouble with the link, login to worldscienceu.comhttp://worldscienceu.com/ using the email address you provided Kata as part of the contact information request and the password brite2020. Educators now have access to both the Brite: Getting Startedhttps://worldscienceu.com/courses/brite-getting-started/ and Brite: art x sciencehttps://worldscienceu.com/courses/brite-art-x-science/ courses, which can be found on the bottom of the platform's Courses pagehttps://worldscienceu.com/courses/. Note that we are still making some updates, including adding certificates, chat, and improving the interconnectivity in the courses by adding more hyperlinks.
Learners will receive a similar email with account information by Sunday morning (ET), July 12. Should Learners have any trouble accessing the platform, they too can login with the email they provided and the password brite2020. As a reminder, the Brite: Getting Started course should not take longer than 10-15 minutes to complete.
Flipgrid
Educators have also been added as CoPilots to two grids in preparation for week 1: Brite: Getting Started on Flipgridhttps://flipgrid.com/britegettingstarted and Brite Girls Gallery: art x sciencehttps://flipgrid.com/briteartscience. Please check your inbox for two emails with the subject line "You're Invited to be a Flipgrid CoPilot!" Educators should feel free to review Learners' content and moderate within the different topics.
Zoom
We have received most of your Zoom personal meeting join links, which you will use to hold the Brite Group meetings throughout the program. These links are made accessible in the Brite: Getting Started course for Learners' ease. We strongly encouraged that Educators disable the "embed password in invite link for one-click join" setting in their accounts (pages 6-8 in the Brite Technical Guide) for the privacy of their Learners. As a result, Educators will still need to communicate their meeting ID numbers and passwords to their respective Learners prior to their first Program Group meeting on Monday (lesson 1.2 Welcome- Zoomhttps://worldscienceu.com/lessons/1-2-welcome-zoom/). A Zoom guide for Learners called A Brite Learner's Guide to Zoom is both accessible in the Brite: Getting Started course and attached to this email.
Next Steps
Consider communicating the following to your respective Learners before Sunday morning:
- The subject line of the platform account creation email. The password "brite2020" if they have trouble logging in
- Your Zoom personal meeting join link, meeting ID, and password
- The guide, A Learner's Guide to Using Zoom
- Messaging that the Brite: Getting Started course is required and will take less than 15 minutes to complete
Attached please also find a revised Brite Technical Guide. Two additions were made and they are indicated by the preceding NEW.
Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Best,
Kimberly
