HOMEWORK

  1. Community Call Feedback

If you haven’t done so, please provide feedback on the Leap into Science Community Calls. The responses to this surveyhttps://go.edc.org/Leap-into-Science-June-Community-Meeting-Survey will provide valuable information about how we can best support you through our monthly Community Calls. https://go.edc.org/Leap-into-Science-June-Community-Meeting-Survey

  1. Wind Unit Book Discussion

During NLI, we had a discussion about incorporating a broader selection of books in order to address diversity, equity, and inclusion. As we revise the next unit of workshops for year two, we are seeking your input on wind-themed books that feature diverse characters, cultures, and languages. Currently, we are working on creating a guide on what makes a good Leap into Science book. Until this guide is completed, please consider the following as you are suggesting books:

·        Accurate depiction of science concepts – Is the science accurate? Does the book perpetuate scientific misconceptions?
·        Captivating story – Will the story capture the audience’s attention? Is there too much text for a read aloud? Is it age appropriate?
·        Compelling visuals – Is the scientific phenomenon clearly depicted through the pictures?

If you haven’t done so already, please help populate this google spreadsheethttps://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1VoisuSjM_b4eWhEnEVBTMpWUQMAlvrcS3pLjIph1FqQ/edit?usp=sharing with book suggestions.

  1. Community Meeting Changes
We have some changes to the Leap into Science Community Meeting schedule. Please see updates below:

September
As a reminder, there is not a Community Meeting Scheduled for September. We are replacing the September meeting with one-on-one check-ins with Tara and Casi. Please watch for an email to schedule the one-on-one check ins.

        November/December

Due to various winter holidays, vacations, and general conflicts, we are rescheduling the November/December Community Meetings with ONE early December Community Meeting. Please complete this doodle poll to help us pick a date that works for the most people. https://doodle.com/poll/epi76wd2f5u5kuaw
