Dear Leap into Science Partners,

Happy 2021! We hope you all are having a happy and safe start to the new year. We are writing to share a few updates related to our project team.

Julia Skolnik, the original Principal Investigator of the Leap into Science National Network grant program from The Franklin Institute, has accepted a new position as Project Director with the citizen science organization SciStarterhttps://scistarter.org/. She will be directing an NSF-funded project called the Circuit, a partnership between multiple informal science organizations and databases (including The Connectory) to develop an online platform which will connect the public with informal science engagement opportunities through museums, festivals, and media, and will also allow informal researchers to study patterns in STEM learning.

On behalf of the Leap into Science National Network, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Julia for her passion, vision and leadership. After working on Leap into Science at The Franklin Institute for the last 10 years, Julia will continue to be a strong champion of this network and shares her appreciation to all of you for your valuable contributions. Please feel free to connect with her!  Her new contact information is jskolnik@learningpartnerships.orgmailto:jskolnik@learningpartnerships.org.

Dr. Darryl Williams, Senior Vice President of Science and Education at The Franklin Institute (dwilliams@fi.edumailto:dwilliams@fi.edu) will become the new PI on the grant and will support leadership of the Leap into Science National Network.

Another exciting update is that Tara Cox, co-Principal Investigator and Lead Trainer formerly at The Franklin Institute, has accepted a new position as Senior Manager of Programs at The National Girls Collaborative Project!  She will maintain her role on the project, and looks forward to advancing the project goals as part of NGCP. Her new contact information is tcox@ngcproject.orgmailto:tcox@ngcproject.org.

Please let us know if you have any questions and continue to send inquiries to the Leap Support email: leapsupport@fi.edumailto:leapsupport@fi.edu.

Our next Community Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 17, at 11:00am Pacific | 2:00pm Eastern. We look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,
The Leap into Science National Project Team
