We are looking for two or three Collaborative Leadership team members to participate in a Train the Trainer at ASTC on Sunday afternoon.
The LVM is a Transmedia hub for 2D and 3D collections, online games, simulations, and virtual worlds and programs in real-time. The resources highlight the Smithsonian art and science collections as they relate to Latinos. These online resources were created to enhance visitor's knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Latino Cultural Heritage through innovative and engaging online experiences. The LVM developed a Bilingual Teacher Training Toolkit to support educators with integrating this robust collection of transmedia and virtual exhibits into their existing STEM +Arts programs. The toolkit includes virtual exhibitions and animation shorts of Smithsonian projects, e-publications, immersion games, virtual worlds, and digital objects that apply 3-D augmented-reality technologies.
The toolkits include 13 bilingual lesson plans that explore three themes:
American Experience
Sustaining a Bio Diverse Planet
World Cultures
The training will include:
In-depth review of LVM Educators Toolkit and overview of the 13 bilingual lessons and interactive tools available
Step-by-step Training of the Day of the Dead lesson plans
Tips for successful training sessions
Criteria and commitment to participate in Train The Trainer:
Offer one training with at least 10 educators who:
? Have access to computers and internet to fully utilize the transmedia resources
? Are able to implement at least one LVM module into their classroom or program curriculum in Fall 2016 or Spring 2017 that has Latino students
? Will provide feedback and share implementation (curriculum, photos, lessons learned, etc.) of LVM into their classroom/program with us
There is no cost for this training or to access to all LVM materials, including the Educators Toolkit. Transportation to ASTC and one night of hotel will be provided.
If you are interested, please send me an email and I'll provide more information about the application process. We are moving very quickly on this project since the ASTC Conference is happening in Tampa towards the end of September.
Please let me know by Friday, August 26, 2016 if you are interested.
