Subject: [Ngcplteams] Words of Inspiration from the NGCP 2014 Collaboration Institute

On my flight home from DC last night, I decided to type up the post-it notes from the flip charts we had at the Collaboration Institute last month in Kansas City.  I had been carrying around them with me for a few weeks as I wanted to read over them.  :)

Here is your inspiration for the week!

The part of NGCP that inspires me the most is.....

  • the research focused best practices shared

  • being in a room of strong women who are not criticized for being strong and leaders (aka - ban bossy).

  • the Collaborative spirit!

  • hearing success about systems affecting real girls at the individual level.

  • the wonderful NGCP team.

  • the attitudes of the network members - awesome!

  • sharing ideas and resources in order to help each other and reach the same goals.

  • access to great talks, people, and women!!

  • the commitment of everyone in the room.

  • the number of people doing great things.

  • meeting others that have shown me that it can be done.

  • Suzi from Montana!

The most important thing about NGCP is....

  • connections

  • the focus on collaboration

  • the supportive national team and the work they put into the project

  • building the network of organization so we're not reinventing the wheel!!

  • the network of amazing people and resources!

  • supporting educators (formal and informal) to better serve girls in STEM!

  • shared visioning

  • the safe space created to discuss issues and concerns.

  • bringing back energy and resources

  • helps me understand the Big Picture

  • the Logic Model

  • the larger impact we make by working together strategically

  • learning about new resources

  • the session about working with diverse groups opened my eyes about stereotype and diversity assumptions.

Girl-serving STEM organizations will be enhanced by NGCP because....

  • of improved and greater access to resources.

  • of the use of research and evaluation about strategies that work.

  • of a better understanding of best practices for engaging girls in STEM.

  • they will know others who do similar work and share resources.

  • it helps remind people to work together.

  • collaboration helps the girls we serve!

  • they can connect with organizations they wouldn't otherwise know about.

  • they will learn to collaborate.

  • we can bring the best and most diverse programs to our girls!

  • of exemplary practices and mini-grants.

  • we can create a sense of urgency so other will work with us to address the challenge.

  • NGCP opens doors, inspires the mind, installs confidence and motivates others to help girls in STEM careers.

  • NGCP is a tool to grow girls to take over when we retire.

Have a great week!
