Hello to The Connectory Exchange (TCE) Community Coordination group,

JUNE METRICS Things to note (see attachment):

  • Programs and active opportunities continue to increase, albeit at a much slower rate than past months due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
    *  NC (10). TX (8),  - all other states either no increases or none more than 1-5.
  • Pageviews up +4%. Users are up +1.3%. Time on Site is up +6%. These are slight increases but encouraging to see since June historically sees dropped activity in all three categories.

NEXT MEETING: Our next Community Meeting will be on September 23, 2020, 10:00 AM Pacific/1:00 PM Eastern (90 min). We are meeting via Adobe Connect here:  http://connectpro35337274.adobeconnect.com/tcexchange. You will also need a phone line to participate: US (Toll):  1-719-387-8317, US (Toll Free):  1-866-642-1665 Participant Code:  596741 - Please send along Agenda items to kthomas@ngcproject.orgmailto:kthomas@ngcproject.org

THE CONNECTORY WEBSITE FEATURE WISH LIST: Below is a list of items discussed at the May 28th meeting. We are creating a plan to implement a number of feature updates and advanced functionality. If you would like to add additional items for consideration, or would like to set up an additional meeting to discuss other features, let us know by emailing Kathy at kthomas@ngcproject.orgmailto:kthomas@ngcproject.org.

  • Change terminology throughout site: Program to Provider. Opportunity to Activity.
  • Change terminology on Find an Opportunity page: Opportunities Near You Now to Featured Opportunities (on TC).
  • Find an Opportunity page - update to automatically load Online Learning and Competition opportunities regardless of zip code location (work on this is in progress).
  • Adding an option to select "Nationwide" when creating opportunities and have Nationwide opportunities show up no matter what zip code is selected. With this option users can select nationwide and then select which states are to be included in search results (work on this is in progress).
  • Getting Started Guide added to top navigation as we have found it to be a barrier having it at the bottom of the page under "need help" (this is currently being scoped out).
  • Adding pop-up box messaging letting families know we've increased the number of online learning and home based opportunities (The Connectory has decided to hold off on this option).
  • Investigate adding user dashboard that includes simple automated reporting (may require funding).

Additional topics for the TCE Community to contemplate:

  • Outreach: Educate partners/providers about NCSTEM/The Connectory what they can use the portals for. What is the value and how do we demonstrate this?
  • Outreach: Consider efficient process to increase capacity (temporarily) to add prog/opps for STEM Providers and then figure out best way to get Providers to take ownership once created.
  • Consider best way to distinguish virtual/online learning content. Traditionally sites were used for in-person events, find a way to highlight online activities in a clearer way (is it exclusively online content or does it include activities that can be done offline later?) This could mean changing the way the search works to globalize results.
  • Vetting online opportunities/resources. Consider quality indicators to create a rubric. Then highlight those that meet criteria and inform audience why we are elevating these specific opps/resources.

Take care,

Kathy Thomas
